New Cookie Law
May 28, 2011
The cookie law is a new piece of privacy legislation that requires websites to obtain consent from visitors to store or retrieve any information. It has been designed to protect online privacy by making consumers aware of how information about them is collected by websites, and enabling them to choose whether or not they want it to happen. There are three types of cookie; session cookies, persistent cookies and first & third party cookies.
If you only have Google Analytics linked to your website and Facebook and Google + ‘Like’ buttons, it is likely the third party cookie law applies. You can conform to the cookie law by adding implied consent documentation which can be covered in a cookie notice or under your privacy page.
Please note: As a website owner it is your responsibility to ensure you are up to date with the current laws. If you would like more information please email > firstname.lastname@example.org
