How to Write for Print
November 14, 2013
To keep costs down you may find yourself writing your own editorial or website content. It may be more cost effective to hire a professional, as it can be time consuming if you are not experienced.
Here are a few tips to get you started. The most important part is to do your research. It is often a good idea to pretend you are your competitor, and continually ask yourself questions to gain the best objective stance.
Tips for writing editorials for print:
Write short concise sentences and cut copy, don't add it. We are all guilty of writing absolutely everything down.
Remember to always write in the second or third person.
Get familiar with the thesaurus, don't loose readers with repetition of words.
Make sure the topic is current, relevant, use facts and be 100% honest.
